Objectives: Improving livelihoods by supporting the poorest communities, both Lebanese and Syrian, through paid activities and businesses (short-term job opportunities) related to agriculture and in cooperation and partnership with agricultural cooperatives and small and medium service providers to contribute to securing sustainability and increasing income, in coordination and full cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The activities:
• Field work for farmers, workshops, and agricultural cooperatives.
• Restoration of agricultural lands, water canals, walls, and others.
• Management of biomass resulting from pruning works through shredding and turning into compost.
• Maintenance of some greenhouses of agricultural cooperatives.
• Capacity Building opportunities for a number of producers through workshops and training groups working on production and food manufacturing.
In numbers:
• Restoration of more than 9 hectares of agricultural lands (ploughing - harvesting - pruning - cleaning - cultivation, etc.)
• Picking more than 29,000 boxes of fruits (such as peaches - apples - figs and others).
• Restoration of more than 14,000 square meters of stonewalls.
• Maintenance of more than 9000 meters of irrigation networks and drivers.
• Pruning about 26 hectares of land planted with trees.
• Establishing more than 5 composting sites.
• Restoration and planting of two greenhouses with 230,000 seedlings of vegetables
• Restoration of two ateliers for production.
• Training opportunity for about 40 women in Saghbine and Bater.
• Engaging more than 530 direct beneficiaries.
• Achieving more than 18,500 days of paid work.
• Involving 6 villages, 5 agricultural cooperatives, and two groups of women in the project activities.
