Project Title: Creating Short Term Jobs in Forest Management and Enhancing Local Economic Activities for Vulnerable Communities in Lebanon

Objectives:

• Creating short-term employment opportunities through forest conservation-related businesses.

• Reducing fire risks.

The activities:

• Clearing and pruning of trees on the sides of the roads to create a buffer belt that helps reduce the spread of forest fires.

• Clearing and pruning a part of the oak forests at the Dalboun site and the wild pine forests at the Botmeh site, with Biomass management by shredding and mixing the product to turn it into environmental fuel and organic fertilizer.

In numbers:

• 16.5 hectares of fire breaks on the sides of the roads.

• 6 beneficiary villages.

• 2594 paid working days.

• 115 male and female beneficiaries of both Lebanese and Syrian nationalities.
