Donor: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), funded by the German Development Bank (BMZ) and KFW.
Objectives:
• Transfer of experience from the forest management project that was implemented in the Western Bekaa/Shouf to the Shouf/Jezzine site with the aim of better managing forest sites and creating job opportunities through cash for work activities.
• Improving the infrastructure related to eco-tourism and food production from natural resources in the forests.
The activities:
• Creating fire breaks on the sides of the roads.
• Maintenance and creation of hiking trails.
• Biomass management through cleaning, shredding and composting.
• Capacity building for two groups of women on sustainable environmental management from the villages of Shouf and Jezzine
In numbers:
• 5 villages in the Shouf district.
• 6 villages of Jezzine district.
• 5,665 paid working days for 262 beneficiaries.
• 23 hectares of fire insulation.
• 16 km of hiking trails and trails.
• Production of a large amount of manure.
• Training for about 30 women for 10 days on environmental and agricultural issues.
