Project Title: Restoration of traditional agriculture stone terraces for improvement of the cultural landscape values and rural livelihoods through sustainable value chains of local plant species.

Objectives of the action

Implementation of restoration initiatives and programs by promoting an integrated approach of landscape management with the idea to restore a well-balanced package of goods and services provided by the landscapes to increase the forests areas and reduce degradation, in addition to building multiple economic opportunities in order to create jobs, reduce the rural exodus and keep a good standard of living based on a sustainable use of all the good and services provided by Lebanese landscapes, through association with the local stakeholders

Main activities


Activity 1: Implementation of restoration works for the five pre-selected sites at SBR.

Activity 2: Integration of results/good practices in the Lebanese guidelines, in SBR and Kadisha on FLR/SFM to be published with FLRM support by the Shouf Biosphere Reserve in 2017/2018, for Kadisha and SBR

Estimated Results Result 1: Five pre-selected sites of stones terraces in Shouf region Restored as "Forest and Landscape Restoration pilot actions in Lebanon” focusing on the implementation of methodological models to be potentially replicable in other Lebanese regions.

Result 2: Integration of results/good practices in the Lebanese guidelines, in SBR and Kadisha on FLR/SFM to be published with FLRM support by the Shouf Biosphere Reserve in 2017/2018, for Kadisha and SBR
